Skill Hubs In Sambalpur To Boost Jobs, Attract Industry: Pradhan

Bhubaneswar, Feb 16 (KNN) Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday underlined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi places greater emphasis on skills over formal degrees, highlighting the Union Budget 2026–27 as a roadmap focused on youth empowerment, manufacturing, the new-age economy and MSMEs.

Speaking to the media in Sambalpur, Pradhan said the Prime Minister believes practical skills are more valuable than academic qualifications in shaping young people’s careers. He noted that the Budget prioritises youth power, industrial growth, emerging sectors and support for micro, small and medium enterprises, reported ANI.

Referring to industry-led skilling efforts, he said the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has established Odisha’s first skill development centre in Sambalpur. He added that CII plans to set up more such centres in the region, which will enhance the employability and recognition of local youth.

Pradhan said the creation of skill hubs would help attract large companies to the area, generating better employment opportunities. Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and industry stakeholders for what he described as progressive policy measures.

He said the initiative would open pathways for youth from Sambalpur to explore global opportunities, including in countries such as Japan and Denmark, as well as metropolitan centres like Delhi.
