New Delhi, May 4 (KNN) To recognise the immense contribution of small enterprises to the country’s economy, the Small and Medium Business Development Chamber of India has decided to award SMEs from manufacturing and service sectors.

The award will be motivational for the budding and young entrepreneurs to succeed in their fields. Such awards will give them recognition and appreciation and will motivate them to perform even better. This will even be an example for new and upcoming enterprises and entrepreneurs,” Director of SME Chamber of India, Sakshi Kulkarni told KNN.

SME Chamber of India has invited nominations for the ‘India SME Excellence Awards’ to be held in June.  The awards will highlight the achievements of enterprises in terms of innovation, strategy, marketing management practices, etc.

So far, the chamber has received about 89 applications and they are expecting a total of 200 by the closing date.

Significantly, the number of women applicants for the award has revealed the increasingly important role played by women in SMEs.

“We have received about 18 applications from women entrepreneurs and we are hopeful that we will get more,” Kulkarni said.

The awards will be presented by advisor to the Prime Minister T K A Nair in the presence of delegates from banks and the industry.

Awards will be given in the categories - manufacturing, service, innovation, women entrepreneur etc.  In addition, there will be an award for entrepreneur of the year. (KNN)
