SMEs in handicraft, other industries can come up at Mahindra World City

Jaipur, Jun 30 (KNN) Mahindra World City coming up here as a joint venture between the Mahindra Group and the RIICO, will be housing units in the industries of interest to the SMEs like handicraft, engineering and information technology. 

The world city is coming up an area of 2000 acres for IT/ITES, handicrafts, engineering SEZs and DTA zones.

"Currently development works are in progress", the Mahindra World City Jaipur said in a press notification. 

In this context, the Mahindra World City has come out with bids for vendors and contractors for execution of the works like drainage work, sewerage work, finishing work, interiors, electrical works etc.

Mahindra World City Jaipur, located off NH8, has been selected as one of 16 projects worldwide by the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI).

Mahindra World Cities pioneered the concept of integrated cities designed to create a balance between life, living and livelihood. These integrated urban centres are located near existing metros and comprise SEZs, industrial parks, retail and social infrastructure. 

Planned as a single point destination for domestic and global companies, Mahindra World Cities include special economic zones and domestic tariff areas. At full stage of development, it envisions to generate direct employment for more than 2,00,000 people.

The Lifestyle Zone, located alongside the Business Zone, offers residences, schools, medical centres, retail malls, business hotels, recreation and leisure facilities, and wide open green spaces for a clean, healthy environment.

The main industries are mineral based, agriculture based, textile, handicrafts etc. Rajasthan is also the second largest producer of polyester fibre in India. The Rajasthani handlooms and handicrafts are liked and sought by most markets across world. Amongst the variety of Rajasthani handicraft and handlooms, include handmade jewellery, blue pottery craft, quilts, mojaris/jutis, wooden furniture, marble crafts, ivory etc. (KNN/SD)
