Special emphasis on Women Entrepreneurs in the OPIC-IndusInd MSME credit collaboration

New Delhi, June 9 (KNN) Under the recently signed pact between the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and IndusInd bank to extend loans to the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), there is special emphasis being given to the Women MSME Entrepreneurs.

The collaboration aims to provide the Indian MSME sector with loans, for this purpose the corporation and the bank have locked an amount of 225 million dollars. Of the total amount, 25 per cent is proposed for the women MSME Entrepreneurs in the country. 

The Acting President at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation CEO Dev Jagadesan in a press interview spoke of the need to promote entrepreneurship among females.

He further said that the dedicated lending will help encourage entrepreneurship among women. He also said this will help achieve a gender inclusive environment in the sector.

The 225 million dollars lending facility to the MSME sector is a part of the agency's commitment it made earlier to support the underserved small and medium enterprises in India.

Romesh Sobti, CEO and MD of the IndusInd bank said that the collaboration with the OPIC falls in line with the already ongoing MSME lending franchise of the IndusInd Bank.

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation is a self-sustaining agency under the United States government. The agency specializes in enabling the American Business investments in emerging markets and nations.  (KNN/ DA)
