New Delhi, Oct 18 (KNN)  In order to give a fillip to export products from the SME sector, an Inter-Ministerial Committee has suggested that the government provide e-commerce as a portal marketing support.

An official report from Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said, “The approach adopted by the committee was to examine the lacunae which may be obstructing the growth of exports from the MSMEs in India.”

The committee suggested that support for e-commerce be provided as e-commerce portals provide marketing support to MSME and the linked payment gateway ensures payment without any risk to exporters.

It recommends that all product Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPCs) may set up e-enabled sites for the respective product groups; and Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) may set up a website (as a new scheme) with support from National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India, G Padmanabhan also recommends support for E-commerce to reduce transaction cost and to earn better price margins. (KNN/ST)
