Telangana MSME cluster to get business opportunity from Amazon warehouse

Hyderabad, Feb 6 (KNN) Global e-retailer Amazon has proposed to set up a warehouse cum fulfilment centre in Hyderabad which will provide business opportunity to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) cluster in the state.

The US firm will start operations from a leased facility in the next two months as it begins construction work on its own facility. It will also assist in training the MSME clusters for utilising the online platforms for boosting their revenues, said a release from Telangana government.

A delegation from Amazon led by Director, Global Real Estate and Facilities, John Schoettler met IT Minister KT Rama Rao at Secretariat on Wednesday.

Rao assured the delegation that the state government would extend all incentives to the Amazon facility as per the new Industrial Policy.

Amazon has responded positively to the request from the minister to create an online market place for promoting Telangana Handicrafts such as Nirmal handicrafts, Pochampalli sarees and Bidri ware.

An action plan will be worked out for promoting Telangana handicrafts on the Amazon platform, it said.

Schoettler extended an invite to the Minister to visit their Seattle campus and the minister has assured that he would be visiting Amazon headquarters in Seattle in the second week of April.

Secretary IT, Harpreet Singh, MD VC TSIIC, Jayesh Ranjan, Head Facilities India, Narendhar Reddy, Head Public Policy Amazon, Mohit Bansal and Manager Taxes Amazon, P Usha were among others who attended the meeting. (KNN/ST)
