Tiny-Micro units integral part of festivals: PM Modi

New Delhi, Aug 1 (KNN) Festivals are beyond occasions of joy, these occasions become possible as the tiny and micro units manufacture various items that are part of the festivals, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said.

In his address to the nation, Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the tiny and micro level industries in the country, especially with reference to the festivals, including Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Utsav, Chauth Chandra, Anant Chaturdashi, Durga Pooja, and Diwali.

Citing the reference of the upcoming Raksha Bandhan, the Prime Minister said that hundreds of families make Rakhis in tiny household units. The making of rakhi involves inputs of all kinds such as silk threads, khadi, etc. Therefore at every level, these small household units become an essential part of the economy along with the social framework for the country.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the need to be environment-friendly in approaching manufacturing.  He said that it is essential to be concerned about environment as no country can do well in the long run if such as an approach is not taken into consideration. (KNN/DA)
