Training programme on eco-friendly building materials

Chennai, Oct 23 (KNN) The Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises Development Institute, Chennai is conducting a series of skill development programmes in cement-based building materials, eco-friendly products and simple chemicals and allied products here from October 26 to 30.

Practical demonstration of making of cement hollow and solid blocks, decorative tiles, fly ash bricks, paver blocks, cellular lightweight concrete blocks and eco-friendly products made from areca leaf and banana fibre will be conducted.

Pulverised fuel ash commonly known as fly ash is a useful by-product from thermal power stations using pulverized coal as fuel and has considerable pozzolonic activity. This national resource has been gainfully utilized for manufacture of pulverized fuel ash-lime bricks as a supplement to common burnt clay buildings bricks leading to conservation of natural resources and improvement in environment quality.

Individuals of above 18 years of age will be participating in the five-day training programme. (KNN Bureau)
