UNDP To Discuss Role of MSMEs In Achieving SDGs at B20 India Side Event on Aug 24

New Delhi, Aug 9 (KNN) The United Nations in India (the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and the United Nations Development Programme) has announced “Driving the 2030 Agenda through Responsible Business Actions” as the title for its upcoming B20 India side event.

The event will be held in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the European Union (EU), and is scheduled to take place on 24 August 2023, as per UNDP’s official statement.

The B20 India side event aims to emphasize the critical role of businesses in achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasize on role play by private sector including MSMEs in addressing global challenges and fostering positive change.

It will see prominent business leaders, sustainability professionals, policymakers, NGOs, civil society organizations, academicians, and researchers to discuss and explore ways in which responsible business practices can lead to a more sustainable future for all, said the said the international agency.

The program will spotlight the challenges faced by businesses in creating resilient and equitable value chains, the role of non-financial disclosures in driving sustainable development, and the readiness of the private sector and MSMEs in creating a stronger ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) enabling environment.

Among the key themes that the discussions will touch upon are the importance of gender equality, environmental stewardship, and ethical business practices in driving positive social and environmental impacts, and health in accordance with international agreements and guidelines like the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

The B20 side event reflects the United Nations’ commitment to advancing responsible business practices and supporting the global pursuit of the SDGs.

The event aims to catalyze positive change and foster collaboration towards a sustainable and equitable future.
