The Center is a tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. M. Visvesvaraya on his 60th Memorial Year along with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

As part of its initiative to promote an inclusive society, the Center will also impart vocational skills to specially-abled people (people with disabilities) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of the society, said the press release.

The Center of Excellence will partner with NSIC, SIDBI, EXIM Bank, SBI Foundation, SP Jain Start-up Incubator, IIT Bombay Incubator and SARTHAK Foundation to impart entrepreneurial skills on business management, international trade, finance and digital marketing to aspiring entrepreneurs and MSMEs.

It will also provide acceleration services to start-ups and women entrepreneurs in Maharashtra, which is home to 16 per cent of India’s start-up units.

The need of the hour is to empower our new age start-up enterprises to accelerate India’s transition to the fourth industrial revolution, said Rupa Naik, Executive Director, WTC Mumbai.

She also emphasized on the need to support women-owned start-up units that account for hardly 0.8 per cent of the registered start-up enterprises in the state. (KNN Bureau)
