UP sees flight of MSMEs from the state: IIA

Lucknow, June 11 (KNN) The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Uttar Pradesh are shifting to the neighbouring states due to the high electricity rates and no availability of land in the state, said the Indian Industries Association (IIA).

Talking to KNN, the President of Indian Industries Association (IIA), Manish Goel said “We were hopeful when new Government came to power, as he was young chief minister with new ideas, we expected that he would be a pro-industrial chief minister. He came to IIA three times and promised a lot. But in between last 1.5 years, Chief Minister is not talking about the industrial development. The orders he had given to the officers are not being followed.. We feel that Government has no intention to develop MSMEs in the state.”

Even a big industry did not come to Uttar Pradesh for investing.  No work is being done on ground level as big summits and conclaves took place, he alleged.

When asked about the reasons behind no investment coming to UP, he said that there are many reasons for investments not coming in UP like corruption, slow work, no time bound work and red tapism.

He said that there is no land available in UP even as the state has enough land which is leading to the flight of industries in other states. Steel industries have moved to Uttaranchal as there open access is allowed.

However, he said that open access is allowed here also under the industrial policy but no implementation of it has been done yet.

He said the prevailing state of affairs was causing the flight of industries to other states, notably Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

“Neighbouring states have cheap land and electricity," said the President. (KNN Bureau)
