Uttarakhand minister calls for improvement of industry institutes to create employment

Dehradun, Dec 18 (KNN) Uttarakhand Minister of Khadi and Gramodyog Harish Chandra Durgapal called for promotion of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and polytechnic colleges in the hilly regions to facilitate small and medium scale industries to generate employment in the state, said a media report.

In a recent meeting with district general manager at industry directorate in Dehradun, the minister said the state government will provide entrepreneurs all kinds of necessary assistance to establish industry.

Durgapal emphasised on effectively arresting the trend of migration from the hilly regions to the towns in the plains of the state.

He said the Union Government has allocated Rs 80 crore to the state to help entrepreneurs motivate youth of the state. He also asked the Principal Secretary to send another demand of Rs 50 crore to the Union Government.

This will promote entrepreneurship in the hills and will also develop market for their products. It will also help the entrepreneurs to produce quality products with good designs and enhance their income, he said.

The minister instructed the district industry centre manager to organise employment fair in their respective districts to promote tourism.

He also urged to organise workshops on MSME policy at Pithoragarh, Haldwani and Dehradun in first phase and publicise it.

The department has shortlisted tentative entrepreneurs of vocational institutes and educational institutes and provide financial assistance for their skill development, he said. (KNN Bureau)
