W Bengal to publish directory of proposals for setting up, expanding MSME units

Kolkata, Jan 3 (KNN)  Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal is keen to publish a directory of proposals to set up new MSME units or expand existing businesses which would be released at the forthcoming Bengal Global Business Summit- Bengal Leads to be held here from January 7 to 8.

The directory of such proposals will enable officers of the department to provide necessary hand holding support and services to the entrepreneurs until the units are set up, a communication from the Principal Secretary of the Department, Rajiva Sinha said.  

“I am sure that a good number of member units of your organization have shown their intention to set up a new unit and/or to expand their existing businesses. The Department is keen to have the details of such data for publication of a directory of those proposals so that the officers of the Department can provide necessary hand holding support and services to the entrepreneurs till the units are set up,” Sinha wrote.

In this regard he has asked industry associations such as FOSMI (Federation of Small and Medium Industries, West Bengal) to provide the details of investment made this year or proposed to be made in one or two year time by its members indicating the name of the unit, contact number, sector covered and amount of investment to be made in MSME and textile sectors.  

The Department has specified that while investment details are not required, only the proposed investment figure (total project cost) will do, although they are aware of the fact that such information may change at the time of actual launch of the project.

FOSMI has requested its members to submit the relevant details before January-5 so it could forward to the Department.

The Government of West Bengal envisions the State to be a leading industrial State in the country and to reach that goal it has taken numerous initiatives in recent years to create an enabling and transparent business environment for the entrepreneurs. The State is now ready to move on a fast track and fulfil the aspiration of the entrepreneurs investing in the state.

To highlight the potential of the State for industrialization and investment and to showcase the changing scenario of the State for doing business in West Bengal nationally and internationally, the Government has organized Bengal Global Business Summit - Bengal Leads.

 In the mega event, MSME sector will play a key role in highlighting the scope and opportunities of investment in this sector. The Department of MSME&T plans to execute several domestic and international malls and organize investment signatures in MSME sector that are likely to be materialized in the next one or two years.
