West Bengal Government To Introduce New MSME Policy Soon: Minister

New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN) The West Bengal government plans to announce a new policy for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector within a month, state MSME and Textiles Minister Dipak Barman said on Wednesday.

Barman made the announcement while virtually inaugurating the West Bengal MSME Pavilion at the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 in New Delhi.

“We plan to give some incentives to the MSME units. We will soon prepare an incentive policy also,” Barman said, adding that the new policy would be prepared within a month.

The proposed policy is expected to introduce incentives for MSME units as the state seeks to strengthen its industrial ecosystem and attract greater investment into the sector, reported Times Of India.

West Bengal Plans More Industrial Parks

Urging entrepreneurs to consider West Bengal as an investment destination, Barman said the state government plans to establish more industrial parks and strengthen infrastructure in existing ones.

The government will provide basic facilities such as roads, water and power in existing industrial parks to facilitate industrial activity, he said.

Barman also said the state government is considering removing the land ceiling and expects to take a decision before next year.

Single-Window Clearance Planned For Entrepreneurs

The state plans to introduce a single-window clearance system to simplify approvals and address issues faced by entrepreneurs seeking to establish businesses in West Bengal, the minister said.

The government is also planning to promote and brand the state's handicrafts and geographical indication (GI)-tagged products in domestic and international markets.

Barman said the state government would continue supporting entrepreneurs and expressed confidence that West Bengal could emerge as a leading MSME hub in the country.
