India’s Merchandise Exports Rise Over 15% In First Six Months Of FY27: Goyal
New Delhi, Sep 29 (KNN) India’s merchandise exports have increased by more than 15 per cent during the first six months of the current financial year up to September 21, despite global economic uncertainties and disruptions caused by ongoing conflicts, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday.
Merchandise Exports Rise Amid Geopolitical Tensions
Addressing the media after the 14th India-UAE High Level Task Force on Investment meeting, Goyal said the export growth was significant amid geopolitical tensions and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key trade route for India, reported PTI.
Official data showed merchandise exports rose 17.85 per cent year-on-year to USD 215.91 billion during April-August 2026, while imports increased 18.21 per cent to USD 363 billion.
UAE Plans Additional USD 25 Billion Investment
The minister said the UAE, India’s seventh-largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI), has indicated plans to invest an additional USD 25 billion in India in the near term, with the longer-term objective of raising its investments in the country to USD 100 billion.
The Commerce Ministry is expected to release official merchandise trade data for April-September 2026-27 by the middle of October.
