MoD Signs Rs 586 Crore Contract for Indigenous APUs for T-72, T-90 Tanks

New Delhi, Sep 21 (KNN) The Ministry of Defence has signed a Rs586 crore contract with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited for the procurement of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for T-72 and T-90 tanks.

The contract was signed in New Delhi on September 21, 2026, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The APU provides an alternative source of electric power for the tanks’ fire control system, firing circuit, gun stabilisation system and other ancillary systems.

The APUs are indigenously developed and will be inducted into the Indian Army’s mechanised formations. 

The procurement is being undertaken under the Make-II category, which involves industry-led research and development.
