Talabira II & III Coal Mines Record Highest Production in FY26
New Delhi, Aug 24 (KNN) Talabira II & III Open Cast Coal Mine in Odisha, allocated to NLC India Ltd. under the Nominated Authority framework, recorded its highest-ever annual coal production of 19.14 million tonnes (MT) in FY 2025-26, up 11.28Percent from the previous year.
The mine, located across Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts, also achieved record annual coal dispatch of 17.69 MT during the year. Of this, 10.72 MT was supplied to the power sector and 6.97 MT to the non-regulated sector.
The mine recorded its highest-ever daily production of 1,26,138.07 tonnes on March 21, 2026, and its highest monthly production of 3.39 MT in March 2026.
As of August 14, 2026, Talabira II & III had achieved cumulative coal production of 72.23 MT and cumulative dispatch of 70.89 MT since beginning operations.
The project also supports 3,277 direct and indirect employment opportunities. It reported CSR expenditure of Rs 5.32 crore in FY 2025-26 on healthcare, drinking water, education, infrastructure and other community development initiatives.
The mine has maintained zero fatal accidents since inception and received a Five-Star Rating under the Ministry of Coal's Star Rating Evaluation for five consecutive years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.
