10,000 Startups to be promoted in next 6 years under GENESIS initiative

New Delhi, Sept 1 (KNN) Through the Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups (GENESIS) initiative the central government will promote over 10,000 startups in the next five to six years.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary Alkesh Kumar Sharma on Tuesday spoke about GENESIS, a National Deep-tech Startup Platform, to discover, support, grow and make successful startups in Tier-II and Tier-III cities of India.

Speaking at an event he said that funding is not an issue among startups rather they are looking for growth opportunities through various means.

Under GENESIS selected startups will be provided with the ‘right tools’ to enable them to get off the ground and scale operations. 

The platform was launched in July this year with an outlay of more than Rs 750 crore.

MeitY has already partnered with 22 accelerators under the Startup Accelerators of MeitY for Product Innovation, Development and Growth (SAMRIDH) scheme which was launched in August last year.  (KNN Bureau)
