14 new startups enter unicorn club with funding surpassing USD10 bn in Q1

New Delhi, April 11 (KNN) From January to March 2022, 14 new startups have entered the unicorn club and the funding has crossed USD 10 billion. 

The unicorn club constitutes of startups with total valuation of USD 1 billion and with the latest addition the total count of unicorns stands at 84. 

According to a PwC India report this has happened for the third consecutive quarter ending March 2023 with USD 10 billion across 334 funding deals.

The Software as a service (SaaS) sector has accounted for the largest share with five startups turning into unicorns in Q1. 

Speaking to the press Amit Nawka, the startups leader at the consultancy, said although the global economic environment had uncertain factors domestic startups continued to attract capital, especially in the growth capital stage.

He emphasised on how the discussion around corporate governance are becoming mainstream as startup ecosystem continue to grow. 

Nawka said that it’s viral to develop a roadmap for corporate governance in sync with aspirations of organisational growth. (KNN Bureau)
