1.43 lakh artisans benefited from Vishwakarma Yojana: Dept of MSME, UP

Lucknow, April 6 (KNN) More than 1.43 lakh artisans have benefited from the state’s ‘Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana’, according to data from the department of MSME and export promotion, Uttar Pradesh.

Launched on December 26, 2018, the scheme aimed at hand holding, training and providing financial aid to traditional handicraft artisans to improve their overall socio-economic conditions.

The artisans were also provided an advanced tool kit to enable them to reinvent their work and meet the demand.

Additional Chief Secretary Navneet Sehgal informed that traditional artisans such as tailors, carpenters, barbers, goldsmiths, potters, sweetmeat sellers, cobblers, masons among others can avail the benefit of this scheme.

Since the launch of the scheme, 1,43,412 artisans have benefitted from it. Of these, 66,300 artisans have been linked with the Mudra Yojana and a cumulative loan of Rs 372 crore has been disbursed to them.

Sehgal also said that the scheme continued to help the artisans and skilled workers even during the pandemic. He urged people of the target group to make the most of the scheme that provides free training sessions. (KNN Bureau)
