1.7% growth in FTAs in October 2015 over the same period in 2014

New Delhi, Nov 12 (KNN) The Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in October 2015 were 6.80 lakh as compared to FTAs of 6.68 lakh in October 2014 and 5.98 lakh in October 2013 showing a growth of 1.7 per cent in October 2015 over October 2014.

“FTAs during the period January-October 2015 were 62.88 lakh with a growth of 4.3 per cent, as compared to the FTAs of 60.28 lakh with a growth of 11.4 per cent in January- October 2014 over January- October 2013,” according to data released by the Ministry of Tourism.

The largest number of tourists during October 2015 was from Bangladesh with 15.22 per cent.  This was followed by USA (12.99 per cent), UK (11.31 per cent), Sri Lanka (3.69 per cent), Germany (3.62 per cent), Canada (3.58 per cent), Australia (3.37 per cent), Malaysia (3.03 per cent), France (3.01 per cent) and Nepal (2.67 per cent) of total FTAs.

The foreign exchange earnings (FEEs) in rupee terms during October 2015 registered a decline of 4.3 per cent over October 2014 as compared to positive growth of 16.1 per cent in October 2014 over October 2013. FEEs during the month of October 2015 were Rs 9,611 crore as compared to Rs 10,041 crore in October 2014 and Rs 8,645 crore in October 2013.

Delhi Airport had the highest FTAs with (33.95 per cent) followed by Mumbai Airport (16.90 per cent), Haridaspur Land check post (8.73 per cent), Chennai Airport (7.50 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (6.19 per cent), Kolkata Airport (3.64 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (2.98 per cent), Cochin Airport (2.79 per cent), Ahmedabad Airport (1.86 per cent), Gede Rail (1.77 per cent), Goa Airport (1.75 per cent), Amritsar Airport (1.53 per cent), Trivandrum Airport (1.38 per cent), Attari Wagha Land check post (1.11 per cent) and Tiruchirapalli Airport (1.07 per cent). These top 15 ports account for 93.15 per cent of total FTAs during October 2015. (KNN Bureau)
