4th National Standards Conclave to be held in New Delhi on May 1-2

New Delhi, Apr 13 (KNN) The 4th National Standards Conclave with the theme “Evolving a Comprehensive National Strategy for Standards: Sectoral and Regional Inclusiveness” is being held on May 1-2, 2017 in the national capital.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in collaboration with Export Inspection Council of India, the Bureau of Indian Standards, the National Accreditation Board for Certification bodies (NABCB), and the Centre for WTO Studies is organizing the conclave.

Commerce and Industry Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate the conclave. Rita A. Teaotia, Secretary, Department of Commerce and Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Cabinet Secretary, Government of India will also be present at the event.

Every year, the National Standards Conclave is organized to generate awareness amongst industry members and other stakeholders about the importance of "Standards" in the changing scenario of Global Trade.

This year, the conclave has expanded its scope, to focus on evolving a ‘National Strategy for Standards’, a pressing need for a large economy like India, said the organizers.

The two day conclave is expected to be attended by senior officials from Central and State Governments, standards setting bodies, export promotion agencies, and manufacturing and services providing organizations together with international and national experts in related fields.
