4th workshop held under Skill Connect Road Show in B'luru to promote industry participation in Apprenticeship program

New Delhi, Aug 28 (KNN) After successfully holding three interactive session workshop under Skill Connect Road Show in Faridabad, Haridwar and Lucknow, National Skill Development Council (NSDC) in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) held fourth workshop in Bengaluru to promote industry participation in Apprenticeship program.

The workshop was attended by Ashraful Hassan, Mission Director, Karnataka State Skill Development Mission (KSSDM), and H.V. Samvatsar, ISDS, Regional Director, RDAT Hyderabad.

Encouraging the idea of industry-ready workforce to promote ease of doing business, KSSDM, Mission Director, Ashraful Hassan promised the participating members to take up their issues and grievances to the government for speedy redressal.

During the event, NSDC, Director, Apprenticeship, Surajit Roy explained the reforms under the Apprenticeship Act, and shared the revised operational framework of the Apprenticeship Training.

Explaining the lifecycle of the program, he stated the reform as a win-win situation for all the stakeholders.

Highlighting the importance of apprentices training as a key approach for industry to get trained manpower, RDAT Hyderabad, Regional Director H.V. Samvatsar explained that the reforms in the Apprenticeship Program will smoothen the process and hiring of apprentices in favor of the MSMEs.

Industry Associations including KASSIA, ELCIA, representing a large number of MSMEs, participated in the event.

By means of interactive session, the participants were invited to share, discuss and present the challenges faced by them with regards to skilling of youth.

The participating companies shared the job roles where Apprentices are being contracted and also those which would be required in near future.

Several clusters where Apprenticeship Programs can be offered were identified and discussed after taking inputs from the participating members.

Issues raised by the industry with respect to the Apprenticeship Program were addressed, and their concerns noted during the event.

NSDC, CII and GIZ encouraged the participants to avail the benefits of the Apprenticeship Program launched to conform to “Skill India” mission of the Government of India.

The event witnessed high participation turnover, with more than 115 participants.

The next workshop under the Skill Connect Road Show will take place on August 28 in Chennai.
