50, 20 rupee new denominations may hit the economy soon

New Delhi, Augt 18 (KNN) Post Demonetization and the introduction of the 2000 denomination Indian rupee note, the Reserve Bank of India is in the process of coming up with the 20 rupee note soon.

The Reserve Bank in December last year hinted towards issuing the new currency note of 50 rupee and 20 rupee. It also informed that the new note will have numeral in ascending size in the number panels, without intaglio.

After the government decided to withdraw the 500 and 100 rupee note in November last year, the RBI had introduced new notes of 500 rupee and 2000 rupee to fill the gap that got created due to demonetization.

Also Economic Affairs Secretary, Shaktikanta Das hinted towards the development. In a press interview earlier this year, Das informed that the government is considering lower denomination notes in the economy soon. (KNN/ DA)
