910 mn telephone subscribers in the country in Nov 2013

New Delhi, Jan 30 (KNN)  With the number of telephone subscribers in the country increasing to 910.14 million at the end of November 2013, the overall Teledensity in India has increased from 73.32 at the end of October, 2013 to 73.69 at the end of November, 2013.
 
This shows a monthly growth of 0.62 per cent.
 
Further, “as per the latest data released by TRAI, the share of urban subscribers has declined from 60.26 per cent to 60.06 per cent whereas share of rural subscribers has increased from 39.74 per cent to 39.94 per cent in the month of November 2013,” an official notification said.

Official data also shows that subscription in the urban areas increased from 545.09 million in October, 2013 to 546.64 million at the end of November, 2013.
 
As far as subscription in rural areas is concerned, it increased from 359.48 million to 363.50 million during the same period.
 
The monthly growth rate of urban and rural subscription is 0.28 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.
 
The overall urban Tele-density has increased from 144.28 to 144.46 and Rural Tele-density increased from 42.00to 42.43 in November 2013.

Meanwhile the proportion of VLR Telecom Subscribers has increased to over 85.5 per cent in November.

“Out of the total 881.13 million wireless subscribers, 753.47 million were active on the date of Peak VLR for the month of November 2013. The proportion of VLR subscribers is approximately 85.51 per cent of the total wireless subscriber base reported by the service providers,” it said.

Service Provider wise, Idea leads the tally with 99.4 per cent followed by Vodafone (96.2 per cent) and Bharti (96.0 per cent). Loop has the lowest proportion of VLR with 46.3 per cent. Circle-wise, Maharashtra has the highest proportion of VLR subscribers with 90.67 per cent followed by West Bengal (89.77 per cent) and M.P. (89.39 per cent). Tamil Nadu (incl. Chennai) has the lowest VLR proportion with 74.55 per cent.   (KNN)
