AEPC urges govt to allow apparel exporting units to operate under the guideline issued by govt

New Delhi, Apr 15 (KNN) Welcoming the Government of India’s decision to allow partial industrial activities with effect from April 20, 2020, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) Chairman Dr A Sakthivel said that it will help mitigate the hardship being faced by many segments of the society.

“We express our sincere gratitude and thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing industries and industrial establishments to operate, as specifically stated in Para 15 of the revised guidelines.

This has been a long-standing demand of the Apparel Export Industry, which has a huge workforce,” Dr Sakthivel said.

He further urged the Government to also allow the apparel exporting industry, which is facing immense financial difficulties and imminent closures, to restart their activities.

“We request the government to allow Apparel Exporting units who export a minimum of 50% of their turnover to operate under these guidelines, as already allowed to SEZs and EOUs in Para 15 of the consolidated revised guidelines. We assure that the AEPC member-exporters will strictly follow the guidelines and ensure all social, safety and health compliances as notified by the Government and as may be further advised,” said Dr Sakthivel.
