After Ludhiana CAIT, Delhi too can demand ban on e-portals offering massive discounts

Ludhiana, Sep 10 (KNN) After Ludhiana unit of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Monday demanded to ban e-portals offering huge discounts ahead of festive seasons, the CAIT Delhi should too demand for the same, said Ramesh Khanna, Delhi President of CAIT.

On being asked whether Delhi unit will follow the footsteps of Ludhiana  and demand for the same in the coming days, Khanna told KNN India, ‘’ Why not? We too can demand for the same.’’

The Ludhiana CAIT has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman to ensure ban on such festivals sales which endanger livelihood of small traders and retailers as the online e-commerce portals got to an extent of selling products below the costing.

Harkesh Mittal, State President of the CAIT, said, ‘’This is unfortunate that big e-commerce portals come out with schemes like festivals sale in which they sell products below their costing due to various schemes and incentives. This practice is against the business ethics and should be stopped immediately.’’

‘’These portals are violating the norms because as per law they are not entitled to sell products as they are not the owners. The government should immediately take an action and stop such illegal business activities which snatch the livelihood of lakhs of small-time businessmen, who struggle to earn even on time meal,’’ said Mittal.
