Budget 2025: FM Sitharaman Launches 'PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana' To Enhance Farm Productivity

New Delhi, Feb 1 (KNN) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during her budget speech  announced a comprehensive agricultural development program during her historic eighth consecutive Union Budget presentation on Saturday.

The initiative, named Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, marks a collaboration between the central government and state authorities to address agricultural productivity challenges across the nation.

The program targets 100 districts identified as low-productivity regions and is expected to benefit approximately 1.7 crore farmers throughout India.

At its core, the initiative aims to modernize agricultural practices through a multi-faceted approach, focusing on enhancing crop productivity and promoting diversification in farming practices.

A key component of the scheme includes the development and improvement of irrigation infrastructure, addressing one of the fundamental challenges faced by farmers in these regions.

This strategic intervention demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening India's agricultural sector through targeted support and infrastructure development.

This announcement comes as part of Sitharaman's broader budget strategy, reflecting the government's continued emphasis on agricultural reform and rural development.

The program's implementation through state partnerships suggests a coordinated approach to addressing regional agricultural challenges while promoting sustainable farming practices.
