Finance Minister Announces Increased MSP For Farmers, Outlines Budget Priorities

New Delhi, Jul 23 (KNN) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today revealed key focus areas for the upcoming budget, emphasising a targeted approach to address the needs of specific demographic groups.

In a pre-budget statement, Sitharaman identified four primary categories that will receive particular attention in the fiscal plan including the economically disadvantaged, youth, women, and farmers, whom she referred to using the honorific term "annadata" (food provider).

"Our budget strategy will concentrate on these four crucial segments of our society," the Finance Minister stated. "Each group faces unique challenges that require tailored policy responses."

In a significant announcement for the agricultural sector, Sitharaman confirmed an increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for farmers.

"To support our annadatas, we will be raising the MSP," she said. The specific details of the increase are expected to be disclosed during the full budget presentation.
