New Delhi, Jul 30 (KNN) The government on Tuesday announced that three additional nano fertiliser plants will be established by public and private fertiliser companies, adding a combined annual production capacity of 17 crore bottles (500 ml each).
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel clarified that the government is not directly involved in setting up these plants.
However, efforts to promote nano fertilisers are ongoing in collaboration with various stakeholders.
Currently, seven nano-urea plants are operational with a total production capacity of 27.22 crore bottles annually. Additionally, three nano Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) plants are producing up to 7.64 crore bottles per year.
Since their launch, fertiliser companies have sold over 10.68 crore bottles of nano urea and 2.75 crore bottles of nano DAP across India, including in tribal-dominated areas.
To support adoption, nano urea and nano DAP are available at Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras (PMKSKs). Nano urea is also included in the monthly supply plan issued by the Department of Fertilizers.
The central government has actively engaged with states to encourage the use of nano fertilisers. A “Maha Abhiyan” for the promotion of Nano DAP is underway across 15 agro-climatic zones, involving consultations and field-level demonstrations.
Additionally, awareness campaigns and demonstrations for “nano urea plus” have been launched in 100 districts to further educate farmers on its benefits.
These initiatives aim to enhance crop productivity, reduce chemical fertiliser use, and promote sustainable agricultural practices through the adoption of innovative nano fertiliser technology.
