All e-commerce FBOs are required to obtain central license from the concerned Central Licensing Authority: FSSAI

New Delhi, Apr 20 (KNN) Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed all e-commerce Food Business Operators (FBOs) to obtain central license from the concerned Central Licensing Authority.

In a notification, FSSAI said, “All E-commerce FBOs are required to obtain central license from the concerned Central Licensing Authority.”

It added, “However, representations form various stakeholders have been received with regard to issuance of clarification regarding requirement of FSSAI Licenses at Stat e/City-wise sub-offices of e-commerce FBOs.”

This matter has been examined in detail and is approved by the Food Authority in it its meeting held on September 21, 2017.

According to the notification, “The State/City- wise sub-of-fices of e-commerce FBOs, where no food business activities are being carried out do not require FSSAI License.”

Further the notification read, “All e-commerce FBOs should maintain the record of their State/City-wise sub-offices and a copy of FSSAI License issued to E-commerce FBO shall be displayed at the prominent place in the premises of said sub-offices.”

“The same were re-operationalized w.e.f. February 17, 2019,” according to the FSSAI notification. (KNN/JM)
