APSEZ Enters South America with 10-Year Argentina LNG Project Deal
New Delhi, Jun 8 (KNN) Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has secured a 10-year marine services contract for Argentina’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project, marking the company’s entry into the South American market and expanding its international marine services operations.
The contract was awarded to APSEZ's step-down subsidiary, Adani Harbour International FZCO, through a consortium with Argentina-based Meridian Group following an international competitive bidding process conducted by Southern Energy S.A. ,According to ET.
Under the agreement, the consortium will provide integrated marine services for the Southern Energy floating LNG (FLNG) project, including tugboat operations for LNG carriers, offshore logistics and supply support, and crew transfer services.
The operations will be supported by four tugboats, one anchor-handling tug supply vessel and one crew boat.
The project is expected to involve an investment of around USD 70 million and will be executed through Meridian Transportes Marítimos S.A., a joint venture owned 51 per cent by Adani Harbour International FZCO and 49 per cent by Meridian Group.
According to APSEZ, the contract expands its marine services portfolio, which currently spans operations across 12 countries supporting ports, LNG terminals, refineries, national oil companies and offshore facilities.
The marine services contract supports the Southern Energy FLNG project being developed by Golar LNG and Pan American Energy through their joint venture, Southern Energy S.A.
The project is located in the San Matías Gulf and will process natural gas supplied through the General San Martin pipeline using the floating LNG vessel Hilli Episeyo.
Commercial operations are scheduled to commence in September 2027. In its initial phase, the facility is expected to produce 2.45 million tonnes of LNG annually, equivalent to approximately 28 LNG cargoes, making it Argentina’s first operational LNG export project.
The development comes as Argentina seeks to expand its presence in global LNG markets.
