Auto, Taxi in Delhi on strike for 2 days, demand subsidy on CNG

New Delhi, April 18 (KNN) Members of auto, taxi and cab drivers' associations in Delhi are on a two day strike to protest against the hike in fuel prices and are demanding Rs 35 per kg subsidy on CNG prices.

Auto and Taxi Association of Delhi, a unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, has announced a strike in Delhi on April 18 and 19.

To increase the fare rates and reduce the fuel prices has also been demanded by several unions.

Despite getting assurance from the Delhi government to resolve the issue, the strike has been called.

General Secretary of Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh, Rajendra Soni accused the central government and Delhi government of not paying heed to their demands.

“We had written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in March demanding subsidy on CNG prices. After receiving no response from the government, we staged a protest for two days and are now compelled to go on strike,” he added.

Showing concern about how the increase in fare will impact the common man, Soni said, “Our only demand is that the government does not increase the fuel price and give us subsidy on CNG prices. We demand that the government provide Rs 35 per kg subsidy on CNG prices.” (KNN Bureau)
