Awards to recognize excellence in coconut farming

Chennai, Jun 28 (KNN) To recognize excellence in the coconut cultivation and marketing, the Coconut Development Board would like to give national level awards in innovative methods of coconut farming, processing, product development, quality improvement and marketing.
A total of ten awards will be given for various categories, during the current year by the Board, said a release from chairperson of the Board, Minnie Mathew.
The award will carry cash prizes ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000.
Categories for the awards include best farmers at national and regional levels, best professors in the coconut sector, best research worker, best craftsman manufacturing coconut based handicrafts and best exporter of coconut products.
An award will also be given for the best coconut processing unit managed by women.
In this context, the Coconut development Board has called for nominations for the farmer category by June-30 and for other categories by July. (SD/KNN)
