REACH- Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances, is a European Union regulation that addresses the production and use of chemical substances and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.
REACH regulation is applicable to all Product and Chemical Exporters in India whose market is the European Union (EU).
The awareness programme was organised by German firm TUV Rheinland recently.
“The objective of the Chennai awareness programme…was to address issues relating to the awareness, registration, notification, and implementation of REACH in order to avoid rejection, penalties and legal consequences in EU in case of non-compliances, by early identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances right from the raw material stage till the final product,” said Director of TÜV Rheinland India, Bhaskar.
The German company has already conducted more than 100 such programmes not only for the benefit of the manufacturers and exporters but also as a CSR initiative to improve the protection of human health and the environment.
TÜV Rheinland India is the Indian subsidiary of the German based TÜV Rheinland Group, a worldwide leader in Testing, Training, Inspection, Consulting and Certification.
In India, TÜV Rheinland is spread over 100 locations and has 12 state-of-the-art laboratories and testing facilities. As an independent body, TÜV Rheinland inspects, tests, certifies products, people, installations, processes and management systems for international standards. (KNN/ES)
