Madurai, Apr 11 (KNN) Bank employees from all over the country will go on one day protest strike on 25th May, 2016 to oppose the Government’s attempt to implement banking reforms in the country. About five lakh employees in Public Sector Banks, private banks, foreign banks, Co-op. Banks and Regional Rural Banks will participate in this strike.

The General Secretary of the All India Bankers Employees Association (AIBEA) told KNN that Banks in India deal with people’s money and their hard earned savings.  Today Banks deal with more than Rs. 90 lac crores of public money.  If Banks are privatised, there will be danger to these precious savings of the people because in the past so many private banks have collapsed.

He further said in a statement that AIBEA oppose the privatisation of Banks because ordinary people, farmers, small business people, etc. will not be able to get loans as private Banks will deal with big business people only and their only motive will be profit, the Public Sector Banks are helping the common people in a big way.

He demanded that when Government Banks are implementing all the Government schemes, it is the duty of the Government to give adequate capital to the Banks.

He also urged Government to make banking fundamental right of the citizens as more than 50 crores of people do not have even a bank account.

Today the total bad loans in the banks are more than Rs. 8 lac crores.  Government should take serious efforts to recover the bad loans.  Big private companies have taken huge loans but are not repaying the loans, said the statement.

He further demanded to take action against Vijay Mallya to recover the loan of Rs. 9000 crores from him.

On these demands, AIBEA will hold a Dharna before Parliament on 26-4-2016 and will hand over one core mass petitions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on same day. (KNN Bureau)
