Bengaluru to get a spices exporters entrepreneurship facility

Kochi, Feb 25 (KNN) The Spices Board is planning to establish a Spices Exporters Entrepreneurship Facility at Bengaluru with an outlay of Rs 921 lakhs.
The facility is likely to assist entrepreneurs in setting up units, provide information on potential markets, documentation and procedures, thereby equipping them to export spices.
The Spices Board of India is one of the five Commodity Boards functioning under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is an autonomous body responsible for the export promotion of the scheduled spices and production development of some of them such as Cardamom and Vanilla. It holds several responsibilities related to export promotion of spices, like, quality certification; quality control; registration of exporters; collection and documentation of trade information; provision of inputs to the Central Government on policy matters relating to import and export of spices; etc.
The main functions of the Spices Board are research, development and regulation of domestic marketing of small and large cardamom; Research and production development of vanilla; Post harvest improvement of all spices; Promotion of organic production, processing and certification of spices; Development of spices in the North East; and Provision of quality evaluation services as well as brand promotion; etc. (KNN/ES)
