Binani Group to invest Rs 10,000 cr in cement business

Kolkata, Aug 17 (KNN) In a move that could bring business for downstream small industries and generate thousands of job opportunities, the Binani Group has plans to invest in over Rs 10,000 crore in cement business in the state.

Binani Group started its journey in metal business from Howrah 150 years ago.

“It plans to reconnect with Bengal with an investment of over Rs 10,000 crore in cement business. The project may generate employment to more than 10,000 people,” Alll India Trinamool Congress (AITC) today said in a release.

The managing director of Binani Cement on Tuesday met Bengal Finance and Industry Minister Dr Amit Mitra to discuss the revised investment proposal. The state has already offered land to the group for its proposed ventures.

“The state government here has undertaken a lot of development work. We want to be a part of that,” spokesperson from the Binani Group said.
