Business opportunities & challenges in Smart Cities to be discussed at SCCI’s multi-city seminars

New Delhi, Sep 19 (KNN) In order to find out the pressing needs of the cities, the Smart Cities Council India (SCCI) is hosting a multi city tour to the shortlisted cities to discuss and address challenges in implementing the blueprint of smart cities.

Smart Cities Council is a consortium of smart city practitioners and experts and is advised by top universities, laboratories and standards bodies.

“The India Smart Cities Challenge spearheaded by Ministry of Urban Development has inspired and supported municipal officials of various cities to develop smart practices in the city and improve residents’ lives,” SCCI said in a communication to an industry body.

Through the Smart Cities Seminar, SCCI will tap a range of approaches – infrastructure development, digital and information technologies, urban planning best practices, public-private partnerships, and policy change – to make a difference.

It focuses on improving the lives by addressing the pressing needs of the city. The first seminar would be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 7th October, 2016.
Following Bhubaneswar, 15 other cities including New Delhi, Kochi, Surat,Ludhiana, Jaipur, Udaipur and more would be covered.

The attendees would include Municipal commissioners, Mayors; ULBs and government agencies; Builders & Developers; Architects, Designers, Engineers & Urban Planners; Citizen Groups, Industrialists; Financial institutions and investors; and Consultants.

Discussions would be held on Infra Outlook & City Development Plan; Raising Finances and Public Private Investment; Technology application in property tax, waste and water management, waste to power, renewable, smart parking, e- governance, smart lighting, water metering etc.

There would also be discussions on best business opportunities including challenges and ways to tackle issues across the top smart cities in India.

During the Seminar there would be “Extensive networking opportunities and a chance to influence decision makers from cities including project team members and end-users on how best to tackle complex issues regarding developing a smart city”.
