CAIT demands influencers, endorsers to be brought under consumer protection policy
New Delhi, Aug 2 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has urged the government to include endorsers, influencers and bloggers on social media in the framework to protect online consumers from fake reviews of products and services.
The New Delhi based trade body has also called for the inclusion of rating of a product or service in the policy framework for reviews.
To protect online consumers from fake reviews of products and services the government is working on a standard operating procedure (SoP).
On May 27 the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) in association with the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) met stakeholders of ecommerce virtually for a virtual meeting to discuss the issue of fake reviews on e-commerce platforms.
They discussed the impact of misleading reviews on consumers and possible measures to prevent such anomaly.
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) held several rounds of consultation with trade bodies and discussed the issue of fake reviews on e-commerce platforms and Centre is likely to soon introduce the framework. (KNN Bureau)
