CAIT says it supports BJP in Delhi polls
New Delhi, Feb 7 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), which claims a membership of six crore merchants across 40,000 affiliates, have announced to back BJP for the polls to be held on Saturday.
"Delhi traders have decided to vote and support BJP in Delhi elections. Delhi has 15 lakh traders and more than 30 lakh employees. It could be a major turnout and a game-changer for BJP," said CAIT secretary general, Praveen Khandelwal.
''Last time, traders openly voted for Arvind Kejriwal in the name of change, due to which Arvind Kejriwal won elections with a huge majority,'' CAIT said in a statement.
The CAIT further said that not only the traders of Delhi but other tax payers of Delhi are also very angry. They are the real tax payers and their tax was given as freebies for electricity, water etc. by Kejriwal as if it was his own money.
''Those who paid the tax were not given any facility, Not only this, Kejriwal dissolved the Traders Board constituted by former Chief Minister of Delhi Sheela Dixit on the demand of CAIT and did not even create any new Trade Board. The AAP did not give a single business leader a ticket in the election. This clearly shows his indifference towards the traders and the traders of Delhi are extremely perturbed and unhappy with the Kejriwal government,'' CAIT added.
Lauding, BJP led central government, the traders body said that the later made several amendments in the master plan to protect the traders of Delhi from sealing, but due to the dogma of the Monitoring Committee and no support from the Kejriwal Government, the said amendments did not yield desired advantage.
''On the issue of malpractices by e commerce companies, the central government immediately took cognisance of the complaints lodged by the CAIT and took a tough stand in favour of traders,'' said Khandelwal.
