CAIT submits memorandum of problems associated with textiles trade to Smriti Irani

New Delhi,  June 15 (KNN) A delegation of the members of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) met the Minister of Textiles, Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani and gave her a memorandum of problems related to the textile trade in the country.

In the memorandum, the issues related to import of textile trade and problems relating to GST and upgradation of textile trade in the country and exploring new possibilities for better growth of textile trade have been raised.

Speaking to the delegation, Irani said that she is eager to upgrade the textile business and industry in the country with the help of business class.

"It is necessary that the country's textile business equals other countries of the world", she added.

Under Prime Minister Modi's digital India program, connecting the textile business with digital technology is also in her priority.

She said that the way of doing business across the globe is changing rapidly and in this context the Indian traders also need to bring changes in their business and the government is ready to cooperate with the traders.

In this context, the CAIT proposed to hold a national conference of all the major textile trading organizations of the country in Delhi and invited Irani to the Conference which she agreed.

The Conference will deliberate on issues related to textile trade and their solutions thereof and to understand the policies of the Government for easy compliance.

In addition, Irani expressed her desire that merchant organizations across the country given their outreach should also engaged in the work of women and child development  and can play a major role in economic as well as social changes in the Country.

She said that  in order to encourage more women traders in the country, problems of women traders should be resolved with priority.

It is important to create a safe business environment for the women traders for conducting business in a smooth manner, she pointed.

Besides this, she asserted  that her main focus is to ensure greater representation of women in trading and skill development of the women who are engaged in retail business sector.

She also advocated  incentives to the women traders to ensure their speedy growth.

With regard to child labor, she said "Child labor is a major problem in the country and traders should help the government to stop child labor in their market to eradicate child labor from the country."

The CAIT delegation welcomed the suggestion of Irani and said that the business class of the country will work together with her  shoulder to shoulder and encourage women development as well as child labor elimination from the society. (KNN/LM)
