CAIT urges govt to involve traders in making master plan 2041

New Delhi, Aug 2 (KNN) In view of the continuous sealing for the last 13 years in Delhi, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has sent a letter to Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri to include traders for consultation in drafting of the Master Plan 2041.

The trade is the financial mirror of any city and development of trade in a structured manner is all the more necessary, therefore, the inclusion of traders in drafting of Master Plan will go a long way in making Delhi a planned city, said CAIT.

After the failure of the first three master plan of Delhi, the implementation of Master Plan 2041 for the structured development of Delhi is very important for making Delhi a smart city. The process for making Master Plan 2041 has already started and this Master Plan is to be released in the year 2021, added CAIT.

Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT in communication to Hardeep Puri suggested that now it is very important to stop sealing in Delhi and as such the Master Plan should include a cutoff date by which whatever has been developed in Delhi on as is where is basis should be regularized and if need arises any reasonable charge for such regularization can be proposed by the government, in the master plan.

He also said that all sealed establishments should be de-sealed by a provision in the said plan. If shifting of markets is required, then the master plan should specify the fundamentals of shifting of markets and it should also be provided that, before shifting to any other place, the aforementioned area  in all respects with necessary infrastructure and connectivity is achieved and properly developed.

The concept of mix land use should be clearly clarified whether commercial activities are allowed on upper floors or not, he added.

Similarly, the situation of warehouses should also be very clear. In proportion to growing population in Delhi, the DDA should provide sufficient development of commercial markets in accordance with the requirement in different areas, he said.

He mentioned that it should fulfill the need of parking for the people of Delhi and develop adequate parking space in different areas of Delhi. This plan should also have the policy of developing the infrastructure of existing commercial markets and regularization of unauthorized colonies of Delhi.
