Cars, Trucks, Buses sold after 1st December to have mandatory FASTags: Government
New Delhi, Nov 3 (KNN)The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways in a press release informed that it has issued a Gazette Notification today according to which all four-wheel motor vehicles sold on or after 1st December 2017 are to have FASTags
These tags are to be fitted on them by the manufacturer of the vehicle or its authorized dealer.
In case of vehicles that are sold as drive away chassis without windscreen, FASTag will have to be fitted by the vehicle owner before it is registered, the release added
Necessary amendments to the relevant sections of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 have been done, the Ministry notified.
FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in the country operated by the National Highway Authority of India.
As on 23 November 2016, 347 fee plazas out of 366 on national highways across the country accept FASTag payments. (With PIB Inputs) (KNN/DA)
