New Delhi, Oct 28 (KNN)  In an effort to curb problems in decision-making and resolve operational issues in every Custom House, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) is taking various steps to bring together different entities to deliberate on the issues.

In this context, the board has informed all local trade and logistics associations as well as customs brokers associations in a circular, to attend meetings organised by Permanent Trade Facilitation Committee (PTFCs) in each Custom House every month.

“This would ensure that local issues of interest to the trade would get resolved quickly thereby furthering the cause of trade facilitation. This would also prevent the escalation of purely local issues to the department/board,” the CBEC Under Secretary M Vasudevan said in a letter.

Further, the board has provided some guidelines which include the need to convene a meeting every month, sending minutes to the board, allowing apex trade bodies to attend meetings and review membership to PTFC.  (KNN/ST)
