CBSE to join hands with private sector for vocational courses

New Delhi, Apr 4 (KNN) Identifying the need to introduce skill training and development domain for various vocational courses, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has proposed to join hand with the private institutes to provide skill competency based Vocational Courses and act as its 'Skill Knowledge Provider'.

“As per the Mandate of National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework (NVEQF), provision of offering Vocational Education becomes essential to the students studying in the CBSE affiliated schools,” the country’s National Board, CBSE said in a statement.

Consequent upon their mandate, the requirement arises for hiring the services of Skill Knowledge Providers (SKPs), for providing skill and competency based courses, to the students studying in the affiliated schools of CBSE, the statement added.

There is an enormous demand for the skilled manpower in the country.  “CBSE is constantly embracing effective measures to provide accessible training and skills development to the youth across the country.”

In order to accelerate this initiative the Board has invited bids from various Organizations, to provide the Skills Training to the school students and to act as a ‘Skill Knowledge Provider’ (SKP), for the skill competency based Vocational Courses.

The CBSE Board seeks “institutes, organizations, engineering college, management institute, hospital, nursing home, ITIs companies, firms, registered societies, trust, government trusted polytechnic engaged in providing training for at least three years holding a valid Income Tax Permanent Account Number and Service Tax Registration Number.”

“Today, enterprises compete to get on-board people with cross functional expertise, to infuse knowledge diversity into their organization. Employees need to constantly look at re-skilling, talent up- gradation and training, in order to stay attractive in such a dynamic marketplace,” CBSE said.

The Board has approximately 14,800 schools affiliated with it including 150 schools in twenty one countries.

The prime focus of the Board is - prescription of suitable curriculum for its various schemes of examination in both academic and vocational; regularly updating the pedagogical skills of the teachers and administrators by conducting in-service training programme and workshops; setting norms for affiliation of institutions for the purpose of public examination and; prescribing as well as updating the course of instructions to raise the academic standards in the country.
