CCIC opens ‘Lota Shop’ showcasing handicrafts and traditional craft forms

New Delhi, June 15 (KNN) Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India ltd (CCIC), popularly known as the Central Cottage Industries Emporium has opened ‘Lota Shop’ a new outlet at Crafts Museum in New Delhi.

It showcases fine handcrafted curios, souvenirs, handicrafts and textiles based on the traditional craft forms of India.

Minister of State (MoS) for Textiles, Darshana Jardosh inaugurated the shop on Tuesday.

Reiterating the significance of museums she said that there’s huge potential in them to attract foreign tourists and buyers.

Emphasising on the One Nation One Product initiative by centre, she said that it will give impetus to the handicraft sector as well as the artisans.

The minister urged not to bargain with artisans for their art and said that it is a priceless gift to the country.

Present at the inaugural, U.P. Singh, Textiles Secretary talked about the facilities provided by the Museum and said that in future, he expects encouraging footfall.

He said that the Museum provides facilities of lodging and also have audio visual facility for visitors. The Ministry also plans to further strengthen the infrastructure of the Museum.  (KNN Bureau)
