Centre & State will work together to impart quality skill training in NE: MoSDE

Dispur, July 30 (KNN) Centre and States will work together for capacity building and to impart quality skill training leading to meaningful employment, said Mahendra Nath Pandey. Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

In a meeting with Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam to discuss how the Centre and State can further the Skill India Mission in the State, both the Ministers discussed and agreed to collaborate to set up the recently announced Skill University in the State aligning it to the national skill standards ensuring common framework and delivery in quality of training.

This meeting was in addition to a closed-door review meeting, organized by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Guwahati, on the work done so far in the North Eastern states of the country.

He also visited the North East Skill Centre and interacted with its students at the Betkuchi campus.

Addressing the students and officials of Assam Skill Development Mission, the Union Minister said, ‘The existence of specialized trainers imparting world-class training to spirited trainees at North East Skill Centre is a unique initiative. This fulfils the Prime Minister’s vision of empowering the youth with required skill sets’.

He lauded the State Government’s initiative in establishing this centre of excellence at Guwahati, which is way ahead of the Government of India’s proposed centre at Mumbai. ‘

Act East Policy has placed mphasis on India-ASEAN cooperation and students with specialized skills from North East can conquer the world, especially the vibrant South East Asian market’, the Minister added.

He said that the youth of North East is very passionate and vibrant and have innovative ideas contributing to the sustainable development of the country and their personal growth.

These should be encouraged at each level by both Center and State government and more opportunities of engagement should be created for them.
