CICU urges to govt to allow industry bodies to visit banks to make payments to staffs

Ludhiana, Mar 26 (KNN) Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertaking (CICU) has urged government to allow commercial establishments to do banking transaction amid lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement on Wednesday, S Upkar Singh Ahuja, President and Pankaj Sharma General Secretary CICU said ''Industry pays advance to labour and staff on 25th of every month which they are unable to do because of the curfew in the city. Government should allow at least one person from each commercial establishment to visit bank to do the banking transactions.''

''Further, they should open ATMs and allow people to withdraw cash for at least 2 hours,'' they added.

As per memo no 213-217/ DB-139 PSPCL has allowed only small power consumers to make payment till 15/04/2020 without late payment surcharge. In the present circumstances when the industry is reeling under financial burden medium scale and large-scale consumers should also be given the same facility. As the bills of large-scale connection consumers are in higher denominations and they have huge financial crunch in the present circumstance they should be allowed to pay in instalments also, they said.
