CLW organizing Vendor Meet for MSMEs to apprise about initiatives taken by Railways

Kolkata, Apr 30 (KNN) In a bid to encourage participation of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in development of Railways, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) is organizing a Vendor Meet for dissemination of information on various initiatives taken by Railways on May 2 at Belvedre Club, Eastern Railway in Kolkata.

Besides, displaying/sharing of information on the items for which new vendors are required and for open house discussion with all vendors on various material related issues, the meet would disseminate information on various government measures to encourage participation of Industries specially the new vendors in development of Railway.

Indian SMEs play an important role in railway sector manufacturing. There are over 10,000 SMEs registered on the Indian Railways procurement portal.

The Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSME) order 2012 has mandated Every Central Ministry/Department/PSU shall set an annual goal for procurement from the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) sector at the beginning of the year, with the objective of achieving an overall procurement goal of minimum 25 per cent of the total annual purchases from the products or services produced or rendered by MSEs.

Out of the total annual procurement from MSEs, 3 per cent from within the 25 per cent target shall be earmarked for procurement from Micro and Small Enterprises owned by women.

The MSMEs who are interested in business with the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works /South Eastern Railway/Eastern Railway/Metro Railway, Kolkata for supply of equipment and spares of locomotives, coaches, wagons and other railway spares may contact the CLW authority immediately for confirmation of their participation in the above mentioned Vendor Meet.
